International Compliance Manager – GDPR & Privacy
CONMED Corporation is seeking an experienced International Compliance Manager to lead their global privacy and data protection initiatives with a focus on GDPR and related regulations. The role involves updating and maintaining compliance programs, conducting assessments, and providing guidance on privacy matters while ensuring the integrity of CONMED's operations internationally.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s global privacy and data protection framework, ensuring compliance with GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other relevant international regulations
Act as the primary point of contact for Data Protection Authorities in the UK, Ireland, and other applicable regions
Conduct regular privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)
Oversee cross-border data transfer mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs)
Provide expert guidance to internal teams on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles
Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews related to data protection
Develop and deliver privacy training programs for employees at all levels
Monitor regulatory developments and advise leadership on emerging privacy risks and opportunities
Ensure appropriate compliance strategies, infrastructure, and processes. Manage process to draft, implement, update, and maintain standards, policies, procedures, and controls for CONMED internationally, consistent with CONMED’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, to prevent and detect conduct that is illegal or could harm the Company’s reputation for business with integrity
Develop and manage delivery of effective and engaging compliance training and communication structure, program, materials and tools for sales teams, distributors, and other stakeholders, in view of identified risks. Support and maintain a culture where people feel comfortable speaking up regarding compliance and ethics
Establish and maintain channels, other than the CONMED Corporate hotline, for people to raise compliance concerns or allegations, and controls to ensure retaliation does not occur for the good faith reporting of concerns. Assess and prioritize matters for investigation, oversee and/or conduct investigations, and drive remedial actions where appropriate to address concerns and prevent future misconduct. Collaborate with other internal organizations locally and internationally (i.e., Finance, Human Resources, etc.) as appropriate to investigate and resolve compliance issues
Monitor and establish metrics and benchmarks for the effectiveness of the compliance program and function, including with regards to healthcare compliance adherence, and use that information as well as risk assessments to update and improve the compliance program and controls. Perform transactions related to reports monitoring, third party vendors and others
Actively participate in CONMED’s Compliance Department to share best practices, standardize processes, drive initiatives and provide critical input
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from accredited university required
Candidate must be Located in Either UK or Ireland
5 years of experience in a medical device or medical technology company including 3 years of GDPR experience AND experience with requirements of US publicly traded company and FCPA requirements
Preferred
Graduate degree and/or professional accreditation preferred
Fluency in French or German preferred
Experience with AdvaMed or MedTech Europe member company
Ability to travel internationally and up to 25%
Highest standards of personal and professional integrity and character, maintains confidentiality
Ability to identify compliance risks and identify changes in the global risk environment facing the company
Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance
Ability to navigate ambiguities, prioritize and manage numerous simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
Strong project and resource management skills
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability to achieve outcomes by influencing people across functions and regions
An appreciation for, and sensitivity toward, a wide range of cultural differences
Ability to resolve issues effectively, efficiently and diplomatically
Fluency in English
