The intern will work closely with Finance staff and leadership on assignments aligned with their academic background and professional interests.

Responsibilities
Assist with basic accounting functions such as data entry, filing, and document organization
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processing tasks
Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
Assist with financial reconciliations and tracking expenditures
Help compile reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for Finance staff
Observe governmental financial procedures to gain applied experience
Interprets accounting policies and financial procedures as explained and directed
Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial records
Provide general administrative support to the Finance team as needed
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field
Basic understanding of accounting principles (coursework knowledge acceptable)
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with numbers and records
Ability to organize information, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
Proficiency using standard office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Initiative, reliability, and interest in public service and municipal finance
