Level II Heat Treat Technician

The Heat-Treating Technician – Electrical Resistance is responsible for executing thermal operations such as post weld heat treatment using electrical resistance methods, including preparation, monitoring, and documentation of heat cycles on industrial components.

Responsibilities
Perform setup, operation, and breakdown of electrical resistance heating systems, including ceramic pad heaters, controllers, and thermocouple assemblies
Execute post weld heat treatment (PWHT) and preheat activities in accordance with job procedures, specifications, and applicable codes
Lay out and install heat treating blankets, insulation, and thermocouples with precision and consistency
Program, monitor, and record temperature cycles using digital and analog temperature control units and recorders
Interpret technical documents such as weld procedures, stress relief specs, and heat treat drawings
Troubleshoot equipment, wiring, and temperature control issues during active operations
Provide on-site coordination with welders, inspectors, and client representatives
Maintain accurate records of heat cycles, charts, and equipment logs for QA/QC and client reporting
Follow all safety procedures and protocols involving electrical equipment, elevated temperatures, confined spaces, and live units
Train or mentor assistants and junior technicians as assigned
Follow all safety rules, client site protocols, and TEAM's Life Critical Expectations
Perform general labor duties related to rigging, lifting, and access equipment setup
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening background check
Must be able to obtain TWIC, DISA, and/or other site access credentials
2–5 years of hands-on experience performing electrical resistance heat treating (ERHT) in industrial environments
Strong knowledge of ceramic heating pads, controller programming, thermocouple application, and insulation layout
Familiarity with weld joint preparation and applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.)
Ability to read P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment specifications related to heat treatment scopes
Willingness to travel and work in various environments typically found in Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Power, Municipality, Aerospace, and other type settings
Willingness and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as required
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions
Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset
Preferred
Experience in induction heating systems, including coil setup, power pack operation, and pipe surface prep
Familiarity with combustion heat treating, including burner setup and temperature monitoring
Prior work in refining, petrochemical, fabrication, or power generation environments
Electrical or instrumentation background is a strong plus
Experience supporting NDT, welding, or mechanical integrity scopes
Familiarity with welding, inspection, or other industrial trades
Current TWIC, OSHA 10/30, or other industry-standard safety certifications
Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools/equipment
