Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day counseling on employment matters including hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, investigations, leaves of absence, and policy development
Draft, update, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and procedures across multiple states
Manage and support internal workplace investigations, working closely with People and leadership teams
Collaborate with external counsel on employment litigation, claims, or regulatory matters
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and upcoming regulatory developments
Support the General Counsel in managing board and committee materials, consents, governance calendars, and corporate formalities
Maintain corporate records, equity documentation, and entity management across jurisdictions
Draft and review governance-related policies, charters, and internal governance documents
Support fundraising, investor relations, and due diligence efforts as needed
Qualification
Required
6+ years of employment and corporate governance experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house training
Strong understanding of multi-state employment law and HR compliance frameworks
Experience supporting high-growth, dynamic organizations
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to deliver clear, actionable guidance
High integrity and discretion, particularly with sensitive and confidential information
Excellent organizational, drafting, and project-management abilities
Preferred
Experience in digital health, technology, consumer subscription services, or healthcare
Experience with corporate governance in VC-backed organizations
Familiarity with DEI and people-operations programs
