Responsibilities
Open and manage property-specific bank accounts
Monitor and manage mortgage obligations, property tax payments, and insurance premiums
Oversee and coordinate property refinances, working directly with lenders and stakeholders
Track and manage company-wide and property-specific cash flow
Maintain accurate records of tenant security deposits in compliance with applicable laws
Process owner disbursements and manage capital and operational funding requests
Compile, format, and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reporting packets to ownership
Lead the selection and implementation of accounting and property management software
Establish internal accounting procedures, controls, and reporting standards
Collaborate with the development company to align financial workflows and support cross-entity needs
Build scalable accounting workflows to support future team growth
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Track and follow up on tenant collections
Ensure proper and timely disbursement of prior tenant security deposits
Handle early-stage billing and reconciliation tasks as team grows
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in property management, development, or real estate
Demonstrated experience in a startup or build-from-scratch environment
Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting best practices
Familiarity with or ability to evaluate property management software (ResMan, AppFolio, Yardi, etc.)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to design and optimize accounting workflows
Exceptional attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through
Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of the accounting function
