Executive Director of Surgical Services

Responsibilities

Assures compliance with DNV, CMS, OSHA, CDC, and Patient Safety regulations for Surgical Services
Leads policy formulation and decision-making for Surgical Services using clinical expertise
Reviews and updates clinical policies and procedures based on evidence-based practice
Develops and manages the implementation of Surgical Services objectives and goals
Evaluates processes and ensures standardization of work instructions
Monitors clinical and operational performance indicators and develops action plans
Acts as a change agent, planning and supporting organizational change
Develops and implements communication plans for system and departmental goals
Manages data from safety, risk, and quality measurement systems, creating dashboards and feedback mechanisms
Collaborates with executives to craft and disseminate messages for employee engagement
Provides supervision and guidance to sterile processing departments and ensures safe staffing patterns
Designs and maintains organizational structure and staffing to achieve goals and objectives. Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's of Nursing
5+ healthcare leadership
Registered Nurse (RN)
Leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently
Maintain good relationships within the multi-disciplinary members of all the surgical departments and surgical service lines
Ability to communicate effectively via oral and written, and in a public venue
Applies cost-containment principles while endeavoring to create new or improved methods of operation
Professional attitude as evidenced by discretion and confidentiality
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and stress
Self-motivation, self-confidence, and adaptability
Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Skill and experience working closely with physicians and proven ability to gain trust and credibility
Ability to work effectively as a member and to be accepted in a leadership role by a variety of constituents internal and external to the organization
Skill and experience facilitating and managing challenging situations, including conflict resolution
Demonstrates ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
Demonstrated track record and success in providing superior service to patients, surgeons, and employees
Strong organization skills and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop and mentor others to their optimum levels of skill and professionalism
Knowledge of all regulatory and professional standards that affect the operations in areas of responsibility
Ability to include evidence-based practice standards for care delivery in their area of specialty
Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
Broad clinical nursing knowledge and understanding of nursing techniques and their relation to medical and surgical practices
Demonstrates empathy and compassion, with astute observation skills
Ability to prioritize risk and implement effective measures to mitigate
Time management and organizational skills, with a sense of responsibility and desire to work with others
Ability to follow set rules and protocols, keep records, make reports, and secure cooperation with residents

Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of nursing home administration
