Responsibilities

Represents an experienced consultant providing subject matter knowledge supporting Total Rewards Compensation, its Center of Expertise (COE) Leaders, other COE Leaders, HR Business Partners, and the HR Service Center in the design, development and delivery of programs and services intended to meet the needs of the Ministry
Advises, counsels and provides recommendations to executives, managers and colleagues regarding Total Rewards programs, policies and procedures
Teams with compensation and HR leadership and mentors compensation consultants and analysts to provide specialized, comprehensive consultative support in the planning, defining and validating of functional area programs, including strategy, philosophy and policy development and in the design, planning, development, review and modification of complex and/or broad component-specific program plans, policies and procedures
Develops and disseminates related communication materials; conducts compliance audits; performs evaluative analysis of programs and their impacts and leads or participates in organization-wide or HR-sponsored special projects or initiatives
Conducts job evaluation and market analysis; develops job descriptions; supports executive and colleague increase budgeting, planning and process; creates and administers variable compensation plans; and responds to and completes multiple, varied and highly technical diverse assignments
Work assignments are completed under limited direction and reflect increased complexity, scope and decision-making and problem-solving latitude in administering component-specific program policies and procedures
Assignments are received in the form of results expected, where precedents may be unclear; originality, ingenuity and application of extensive knowledge of compensation methods, practices and techniques is required
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions
Participates in the planning, defining and validating of complex and/or broad program-specific philosophy, strategy and approach
Designs, develops, reviews, modifies, and costs component-specific programs, policies and procedures
Develops, explains and disseminates related communication materials
Participates in the development and measurement of program effectiveness and service delivery efficiency
Provides consultative support to the HR COEs in the design, development and delivery of Trinity Health’s HR programs, from a Total Rewards perspective
Assists in organization spans-of-control and budgeted allocation work; investigates alternatives and makes recommendations, as needed
Provides input into the development of formats, guidelines, systems and processes for providing salary and compensation recommendations to ensure salary adjustments, promotions, demotions, reclassifications and starting salaries for colleagues adhere to established parameters
Leads the annual wage & salary budget planning activities including the establishment of the annual wage and salary budget (includes multi-year strategic financial plan and Trinity Health Minimum Wage)
Develops and administers variable compensation and retention plans and procedures
Drafts executive communication, board summary report and associated presentation materials
Provides consultative support to Human Resources leaders and Senior Management Partners with executive performance management planning across all functional areas to ensure business objectives and established goals are aligned with Ministry strategies
Reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance with government regulations; identifies potential issues and recommends resolution
Leads audits to ensure jobs are correctly classified and component-specific programs comply with government, legislative and regulatory requirements
Identifies potential issues and recommends resolutions
Completes reporting requirements, as required
Consults with Leaders and with HR Service Center in responding to escalated inquiries from executives, managers and colleagues concerning Total Rewards programs; works with HR Service Center to disseminate general Total Rewards program and/or policy information; leads management of vendor relationships
Develops and leads group presentations/ seminars on program, policies, changes or issues
Identifies and researches tools for effective data compilation, analysis and reporting
Leads the process to update the fair market value database and respond to requests for physician compensation fair market value information
May administer physician compensation
Compiles and analyzes varied and complex market-based compensation and colleague data for executive, non-executive and physician jobs
Develops and documents job description requirements and conducts internal and external job content analysis to assign appropriate job titles and determine relative pay level/grade
Supports Merger, Divestiture and Acquisition (MD&A) activities, as directed, in defining the Human Resources strategy, program philosophy, policies, approach and program implementation for the post-MD&A organization
Leads the Total Rewards compensation function due diligence and integration of the merged, acquired or divested organization
Measures and analyzes Total Rewards compensation program and policy impact, return on investment and operational effectiveness
Identifies the need and initiates research regarding varied, new or changing compensation practices and policies and develops associated communication materials
Performs other duties as needed and assigned by Manager
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior

Required

Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources, as normally obtained through Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively more responsible compensation related experience in job evaluation, market analysis, base and incentive pay and compensation program administration
Health care compensation experience required
Prior program development experience
Advanced knowledge and understanding of experience of human resources practices, laws and regulations, specifically the Fair Labor Standards Act
In-depth understanding of organizational relationships and structures
Ability to respond to variable situations requiring analytical, interpretative, evaluative and constructive thinking abilities
Advanced logical and deductive reasoning abilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills in order to anticipate issues and independently generate new ideas with several alternatives to complex and broad reaching situations while applying extensive Total Rewards experience
Advanced level of written and verbal communication skills and oral presentation skills for varied interactions
Influences and anticipates the needs of others while acting as a subject matter expert
Ability to coach, mentor and provide guidance to lower level colleagues
Detail-oriented with a high level of organizational skills and ability to manage and complete work in an efficient and thorough manner
Proficiency in software programs including Microsoft Office
Strong Excel skills in order to develop and maintain spreadsheets and perform data analysis
Must be discrete and maintain the highest confidentiality with extremely sensitive data
Strong interpersonal, consultative and relationship building skills in order to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with management and staff
