Responsibilities
Provide customer service to staff, residents, visitors, and/or vendors by following site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts when appropriate and requesting assistance from site leadership and/or emergency services as needed
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior common areas, exterior grounds, entrances, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify maintenance and/or security-related concerns
Monitor access points and visitor flow by observing for unusual activity, verifying authorization when required, and directing individuals to appropriate check-in and/or service areas per site procedures
Complete detailed reports and logs of patrols, incidents, and client interactions, and communicate timely updates to site contacts and Allied Universal supervision
Qualification
Required
A New York State Security Guard License is required
Security-related experience of 1+ years is required
Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED
Be at least 21+ years of age
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only
