Responsibilities
Design and develop marine seating and upholstery systems, including foam shapes, patterns, and quilt designs
Create and manage SolidWorks assemblies, 2D drawings, and supporting documentation for production
Translate design concepts into manufacturable solutions that balance comfort, style, and durability
Prepare and optimize CAD files for CNC equipment (Zund Cutter, AXYZ Router, Laser Engraver, ABM Quilter)
Collaborate with upholsterers, sewing teams, and production staff to support prototyping and first-article builds
Review prototypes and finished products to ensure fit, finish, and quality align with design intent
Maintain organized design libraries, revision histories, and part databases
Identify and implement improvements to streamline production and reduce rework
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in marine upholstery design or related industries (marine, automotive, RV, or specialty seating)
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to manage large, complex assemblies
Knowledge of upholstery construction methods: foam cutting, patterning, sewing, quilting
Experience creating and interpreting technical drawings and templates
Familiarity with marine-grade materials and construction standards
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience designing OEM upholstery for boats
Hands-on upholstery or prototyping experience
Knowledge of CNC nesting and file preparation for upholstery equipment
