Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage Azure data services including Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics
Optimize data storage, access, and performance across distributed systems
Experience of integrating Azure data services with Azure Databricks
Collaborate with data engineering and application teams to ensure optimal data ingestion, transformation, and storage strategies
Define and enforce standards for database design, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization
Implement backup, recovery, and high availability strategies
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies
Monitor and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure and data services using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
Automate routine tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and ARM templates
Maintain clear documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 4 years focused on Microsoft Azure
Strong expertise in Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Data Factory)
Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python) and automation tools (Terraform, Azure CLI)
Solid understanding of database administration, performance tuning, and security
Advanced proficiency in Terraform, Python, and PowerShell/Bash
Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and Agile methodologies
Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting best practices in cloud environments
Preferred
Experience with Azure Databricks Platform is preferred
