Responsibilities
Repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects complex medical imaging equipment, instrumentation, and systems. Assign routine repairs, inspections, and installations to team members and observe their performance
Performs preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors
Prioritizes service calls and unscheduled maintenance or repairs while ensuring responses are within acceptable guidelines and time limits as required by the user department/unit
Reviews outcome of preventive maintenance actions and makes recommendations to department staff concerning improvements
Instructs personnel in the safe use, application, testing, and preventive maintenance and repair of all types of imaging equipment technologies and systems
Recommends new equipment and testing procedures
Maintains accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and the deactivation of equipment
Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System to maintain required records and reports relative to regulatory compliance of biomedical equipment including but not limited to new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures
Coordinates and assists with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third-party repairs
Maintains professional growth and technical expertise and knowledge through seminars, conferences, and other educational forums
Provides technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation and maintenance to personnel

Understands and complies with The Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations
Performs other related job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Education Associate's Degree In Biomedical Equipment Technology, Clinical or Electrical Engineering, or similar field or Applicable Military Training and experience
Experience 4 years Of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment
DRIVERS LICENSE Must have a valid State of Texas Driver's License. Upon Hire
Excellent judgment, professionalism, leadership, and customer service skills
Knowledge of electronic circuitry and technical aspects of the operation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment
Knowledge of the application of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment
Knowledge of networking theory
Knowledge of current regulatory requirements
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology and medical terminology
Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment
Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections
Ability to run diagnostic programs
Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation
Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and test
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment; to push/pull equipment carts; to kneel, stand, bend, and reach during equipment repair
Skill in testing electronic equipment
Skill in manual dexterity, hand to-to-eye coordination, and color vision
Ability to interact and communicate respectfully with diverse populations and cultures
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work independently to prioritize, implement, and complete projects with minimal supervision
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Superior interpersonal and leadership skills; proven ability to develop and motivate employees to meet and exceed performance standards
Preferred
Successful completion and maintenance of CBET certification (Certified Biomedical Engineering Technician) Upon Hire
