Amended Team Supervisor (REVENUE SPECIALIST II) Revenue Administration Division

The State of Maryland is currently seeking to hire a supervisor for their Taxpayer Accounting Section. This position involves overseeing a team responsible for reviewing and validating tax return submissions for accuracy and completeness, as well as managing daily operations and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of professional employees who are responsible for reviewing and validating tax return submissions for accuracy and completeness
Review daily account work for accuracy
Approve higher dollar values
Assist with tax law, administrative policy, and processing issues
Maintain attendance and leave records
Perform any other mission-related duties assigned by agency management

Required

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting
Four years of experience performing work in tax assessments, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within two or more of the specialized fields of revenue administration or performing work in tax assessments, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within the motor fuel/motor carrier tax field
Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree, with twelve credit hours in accounting or auditing, from an accredited college or university for two years of the required experience
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in finance technician classification or finance technician specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience
For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service

Preferred

Knowledge of Federal and Maryland state taxes, forms, and regulations
Prior supervisory experience
Excellent punctuality, organization, and communication skills
Experience prioritizing and handling high work volumes
Professional experience using Microsoft Office products
