Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain features in our Rails codebase, focusing on high-quality, performant, and scalable solutions
Drive the development of APIs, authentication systems, and customer-facing UI, ensuring seamless integration with other 1Password services
Implement enhancements using modern Rails features like Hotwire, Stimulus, and Turbo to improve the reactivity of our web applications
Work closely with endpoint engineers and contribute to our open-source projects, improving both the backend and frontend components of our product
Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback, and helping teammates adhere to best practices
Rotate through "on-call" responsibilities to help review PRs, assist other engineers, and provide technical support to other departments such as Customer Success and Sales
As a senior team member, you’ll mentor junior developers, lead discussions on technical design, and contribute to testing strategies and debugging techniques

Qualification

Required

5+ years of experience building SaaS products with Ruby on Rails and are comfortable across the full web stack, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Strong knowledge of SQL (Postgres or MySQL) with a passion for writing performant queries and solving database challenges
Experience working in a remote-first company or distributed teams
Self-driven, with excellent communication skills, and capable of managing your own time effectively
A background in security or IT
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for end-users
Strong writing skills to communicate technical details clearly, both in documentation and when interacting with customers or less technical colleagues
Experience building and scaling applications, particularly with a focus on performance and reliability
Understanding of how to diagnose bottlenecks and resolve scalability challenges
Passionate about Rails and enjoy staying up to date with the latest developments in the ecosystem
