Police/Public Entity Associate Attorney
Lewis Brisbois is a full-service AmLaw 100 firm seeking an attorney to join its Public Agency & Municipal Law Practice in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves defending public entities in civil litigation, preparing motions, and conducting depositions, with a focus on municipal law matters.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Defending public entities, including law enforcement agencies and their officers, in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings
Preparing and responding to written discovery
Conducting related meet-and-confer sessions
Preparing related motions
Taking and defending witness depositions
Drafting and responding to discovery and initial pleadings
Drafting and arguing motions
Qualification
Required
At least two (2) to seven (7) years of experience in civil litigation
Experience defending public entities, including law enforcement agencies and their officers, in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings
At least two (2) years of experience preparing and responding to written discovery
Conducting related meet-and-confer sessions
Preparing related motions
Taking/defending witness depositions
Admission to the California Bar
Strong writing and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Experience in public agency and municipal law
Substantive litigation experience
Demonstrated interest in public agency and municipal law
