Mgr-Data Science Commercial

Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Data Scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Direct the end-to-end design, development, and validation of advanced statistical, machine learning, and optimization models to support enterprise commercial strategy
Set analytical standards and oversee the implementation of scalable data pipelines and models to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of solutions
Guide exploration analysis of complex transportation and commercial data to identify trends, revenue drivers, and growth opportunities
Partner with business stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities, define success metrics, and ensure analytics solutions align with commercial goals
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of FedEx Freight business processes, data assets, and commercial operating models
Evaluate emerging analytical methods and technologies, guiding their responsible adoption to maintain a competitive advantage
Communicate complex analytical findings and business impact clearly through executive-level presentations, visualizations, and written narratives
Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and quality standards while monitoring model performance and adoption to recommend optimizations
Provide technical guidance and mentorship across the broader Data Science and Analytics community, promoting cross-functional collaboration
Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Math/Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative discipline or Bachelor's Degree (aforementioned disciplines) with two (2) years' experience. PhD, preferred
Five (5) years professional experience in data science, operations research, engineering, statistics, or quantitative business
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL with the ability to adapt to new tools and programming environments
Advanced knowledge of AI/ML techniques and statistical modeling methods, including experience with frameworks such as Scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow; familiarity with generative AI concepts and applications is a plus
Advanced knowledge of mathematical optimization and solution methods for linear and integer programming; proficiency with optimization/simulation software such as CPLEX, Gurobi, AnyLogic
Experience applying geospatial techniques and GIS software (e.g., ESRI/ArcGIS, GeoPandas) to operational problems
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, or Databricks)
Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI for storytelling
Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and overseeing advanced statistical and optimization models in commercial or enterprise settings
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of mentoring technical teams and delegating effectively
Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into executive-level insights and actionable recommendations
