They are seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineering intern to work closely with engineers and chemists to build and deploy new systems that enhance manufacturing operations and improve safety. This internship will provide hands-on experience in mechanical design within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Gather requirements through user interviews, process review, and use of measurement tools
Create CAD models and drawings based on functional requirements
Conceptualize, prototype, and assemble, and test mechanical systems
Conduct verification and validation studies, analyze test results, and iterate on designs
Meet mission-critical project deadlines in fast-paced environment

Required

Actively pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Excellent understanding of manufacturing techniques, processes and DFM concepts
Familiarity with common workshop tools
Proficiency with 3D CAD design tools such as SolidWorks or Onshape
Hands-on experience building things, ideally demonstrated with a portfolio of projects
Must be onsite in Redwood City, CA during the 10-week duration of the internship this summer

Preferred

Proficiency with Python or similar programming language
Advanced CAD skills including familiarity with complex assemblies and drawings
Experience with design and/or simulation of air handling systems
Machine shop experience
Experience working in a chemistry lab
