I&C Design Engineer
COMPA Industries is seeking an experienced I&C Design Engineer to support Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). This role provides instrumentation and controls (I&C) design engineering support for nuclear and process chemical facilities, focusing on design development, field walkdowns, analysis, and generation of high-quality design output documents in accordance with SRNS engineering standards and DOE requirements.

Responsibilities
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS I&C organizations
Perform engineering analysis, design development, and generation of I&C design deliverables
Develop and revise design output documents including, but not limited to:
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Control Logic Diagrams
Loop Diagrams
Instrument Indexes and Setpoint Lists
Instrument and Control Valve Specifications
Distributed Control System (DCS) and PLC design documentation
Instrument installation details and panel layouts
Conduct field walkdowns to support design development, verification, and constructability
Review vendor submittals and technical documents for compliance with design requirements
Support construction, startup, testing, and operations as needed
Ensure all engineering work complies with SRNS processes, procedures, codes, and standards
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, operations, maintenance, and project management
Prepare and maintain accurate, high-quality technical documentation
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship Required
DOE Q Clearance (active preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain)
Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering OR current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a related discipline
Minimum 10 years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in a nuclear or process chemical industry environment
Demonstrated experience with process control instrumentation and control systems
Hands-on experience designing PLC and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Strong proficiency using MicroStation 2D CADD software
Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and DOE requirements
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to interface effectively with engineering, construction, and operations teams
Preferred
Previous SRNS, SRS, or DOE facility design engineering experience
Prior or active DOE Q or L clearance
Professional Engineer (PE) license
