Payroll Specialist
Joseph J. Albanese Inc. is a family-owned construction business seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Specialist to join their Finance team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and maintaining payroll records, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Responsibilities
Process weekly payrolls for all union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws
Maintain up-to-date payroll records, including timecards, deductions, direct deposits, and tax withholdings
Enter, review, and audit employee hours and payroll data to detect and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timesheets, and related matters
Review insurance documents for required coverage amounts, expiration dates, and additional insured endorsements
Monitor, input, and request truckers' certified payroll and ensure compliance with job requirements
Monitor trucking and prepared specialized compliance reporting for assigned projects
Weekly review of missing or expired compliance documents
Collaborate with Project Teams, HR, and accounting departments to ensure accurate status updates of insurance documents, employee records, and payroll transactions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information at all times
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
3 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, construction experience preferred
3+ years of payroll or certified payroll reporting experience
Understanding of payroll labor laws, wage scales, union agreements, benefit programs, prevailing wage requirements, and labor compliance laws
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and effectively multitask
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Preferred
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
3 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, construction experience preferred
Experience with Vista Viewpoint software is preferred but not required
Experience with Elation, LCP Tracker, DIR, Marsh, AON, and/or Gallagher certified payroll systems
