Legal Secretary – Insurance Defense / Civil Litigation
Learning Consultant is seeking a Legal Secretary to provide high-level administrative and litigation support in a fast-paced insurance defense and civil litigation practice. The role requires strong organizational skills and a deep knowledge of California court procedures, managing multiple deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities
Maintain attorney calendars, tickler systems, and court deadlines
Schedule meetings, depositions, court appearances, experts, attorneys, and co-counsel
Review, re-index, and route incoming mail in OnBase for attorney review and action
Draft and transcribe correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, and litigation-related documents
Prepare discovery, pre-trial, and trial documents for filing with California courts
Manage and calendar all discovery for plaintiffs and defendants
Maintain organized, confidential electronic legal files with accurate activity documentation
Communicate with clients to obtain requested information on behalf of attorneys
Answer and screen phone calls professionally
Provide backup support to other legal secretaries as needed
Maintain current knowledge of California court rules and procedures
Assist with department initiatives and firm-wide projects
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
7+ years of legal secretarial experience supporting defense trial or litigation practices
3+ years of recent California civil litigation experience
Trial preparation experience is required
Thorough knowledge of court procedures, filings, and litigation timelines
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in MS Word and legal case management systems
Typing speed of 70+ WPM
