Senior Tool/Design Engineer
Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. They are seeking a Senior Tool Design Engineer to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Research and Development (R&D) projects, working hands-on with the fabrication process for new composite and polymer products.

Responsibilities
Design and develop tools, molds, jigs, fixtures, job aids, and assembly fixtures using CAD software (primarily SolidWorks)
Create detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and specifications in accordance with GD&T and industry standards
Prepare comprehensive documentation, including bill of materials (BOMs), cost, assembly instructions and maintenance procedures for tools, jigs and fixtures
Modify existing tooling to boost efficiency, reduce downtime and lower costs
Provide shop floor support, including troubleshooting tooling issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing design improvements
Ensure all tool designs and processes comply with GD&T and industry standards
Interface directly with external vendors and suppliers: Support vendor selection and technical evaluations, Communicate design intent and requirements, Review vendor deliverables and ensure conformance to specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, maintenance, supply chain) to ensure tooling integrates seamlessly into production workflows
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and written summaries for internal leadership, customers, and suppliers
Travel domestically up to 5%
Support other engineering initiatives as needed
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
3+ years of experience in tool design or related design engineering role
Experience in CAD software
Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
Preferred
Mechanical, Manufacturing, Design engineering
Knowledge of composite materials and composite fabrication
SAP or other MRP
SolidWorks or AutoCAD experience
