St. Louis and Missouri Eastern Region Clinical Educator and Consultant – Long Term Care

The University of Missouri’s Sinclair School Of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Educator and Consultant for long-term care. This role involves providing education and technical assistance to nursing staff in quality improvement practices and evidence-based nursing care, requiring extensive travel throughout the St. Louis/Eastern region of Missouri.

Responsibilities

Works directly with MO’s LTC facility management staff in the implementation of teams for decision-making and quality improvement as well as the ability to work with all levels of MO’s LTC facility staff to assist them in developing high-performing work teams
Maintains confidentiality
Required federal nursing home Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process which includes the Minimum Data Set (MDS), Care Area Assessment (CAA,) and Care Planning regarding the required coding and reporting interpretations and regulations
MDS-derived quality measures (QMs) that have been nationally developed and reported to facilities
Public and communication skills to communicate effectively with the nursing home staff to assist them in using the QMs in their practices
5-STAR reports that are publicly accessible regarding nursing home care
Change management to implement planned change and assist direct care staff to improve systems of care in health care organizations
Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with interdisciplinary faculty and research staff at the University of Missouri to develop needed links with experts in many areas that may be essential to assisting facilities with many kinds of clinical and organizational practice issues
Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with the staff of the MO Department of Health and Senior Services (MODHSS) and carries out the required work in collaboration with the MODHSS
In addition, this role may include coordinating and building relationships with LTC facilities in MO who participate in MU research projects
Effectively collaborates among all members of the MU QIPMO team
Completes timely entries into a database of all facility contacts (on-site visits, phone calls, e-mails, virtual visits, etc.)

Required

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri is required
Expertise in gerontological nursing is required with 2-3 years of experience in LTC or care of the elderly, or from which comparable knowledge and abilities is acquired is necessary
Proficiency in the use of computer technology for purposes of timely data entry
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and in-person and via zoom or other virtual platforms

Preferred

BSN is required, MSN preferred, from an accredited college or university
Expertise in gerontological nursing is required with 2-3 years of experience in LTC or care of the elderly, or from which comparable knowledge and abilities is acquired is necessary
