Laboratory Technician III
Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is seeking a Laboratory Technician III to supervise laboratory technicians and perform clinical and analytical laboratory testing. The role involves conducting laboratory tests, recording data, reporting results, and providing consultation on test orders and interpretations.

Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests of varying complexity using established procedures on human, animal, or environmental specimens/samples to support diagnosis, prevention, treatment of disease, and/or surveillance and epidemiological activities
Accurately record laboratory data in the laboratory information system, including patient demographics, specimen/sample collection, identification, preservation, processing, quality control measures, test results, and specimen referrals
Report and verify test results using the laboratory information system in accordance with established protocols
Provide consultation regarding the appropriateness of test orders and assist in the interpretation of test results
Conduct statistical analyses and evaluate test results in relation to specimen/sample information and established reference standards
Identify potential issues in testing processes and initiate corrective actions as necessary
Adhere to laboratory quality control and quality assurance policies, routinely reviewing procedures and identifying factors that may negatively impact test performance
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and functional checks of electronic and mechanical equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results
Evaluate and document the performance of laboratory personnel through direct observation of specimen/sample handling and test procedures
Assess training needs of laboratory personnel and participate in or provide ongoing in-service training and education related to laboratory safety, testing procedures, and best practices
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of experience in laboratory work performing laboratory procedures; or an equivalent combination of experience, substituting one college-level laboratory science course for each six months of required experience

Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver's license
Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements
