The Farm Operator Technician is responsible for supporting pork production through various tasks including animal care, semen collection, and maintaining veterinary records, while adhering to animal welfare policies.

Responsibilities
Swine husbandry: feeding/watering/moving
Assisting with Boar semen collection process
Handling and administering medications and vaccinations
Vaccinating and medicating boars
Cleaning and disinfection of facilities, including removal of mortality and waste
Maintaining records of animal production and veterinary products
Animal Identification including administering ear tags
Attending Safety training
Animal welfare adherence
Animal feeding and feeder management
Identification and ability to correct basic maintenance needs by utilizing welding, plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills
Euthanasia of animals when needed
Production/facility housekeeping duties such as cleaning animal housing areas and office/shower/kitchen/lab area
May include maintenance duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical and carpentry
Any other tasks asked by Assistant or Manager
Qualification
Required
Be a team oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethic
Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn or already have technology knowledge, computer skills
Able to work every other weekend
Able to bend, push, grasp, and pull up to 80 lbs
Constant walking – 95% of day
Reliable method of transportation
Ability to work scheduled hours as business needs arise
Able to work early 1st shift hours
Excellent attendance is expected to help meet business goals
Preferred
Prior farm experience, ideally swine production
Power washing experience
Familiarity with Bio-Security
