Instructor of Chemistry
Connecticut State Community College is committed to providing rigorous education and training focused on student success. The Instructor of Chemistry will prepare and teach college-approved courses, evaluate student learning, and participate in departmental responsibilities to support academic programs.

Responsibilities
Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date
Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.)
Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources
Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year
Evaluate and assess student learning
Provide student support and academic advising
Plan and execute program-related events
Assist with program reviews
Develop curriculum and periodically evaluate teaching materials
Attend workshops and or conferences to maintain currency in profession and field
Carry out the essential duties of attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
Service on assigned committees and task forces
Attend and participate at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline
Proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students
Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
Strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.)
Preferred
Ph.D. In chemistry or biochemistry
Two (2) or more years' related college-level teaching experience (48+ credits)
Experience teaching General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, General Biology I, Introduction to Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry I or Organic Chemistry II
Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software
