Legal Assistant (Court)
DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Legal Assistant for the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), an independent administrative court. The Legal Assistant will support the administration of the OAH docket by managing case files, entering data, and providing customer service related to court operations.

Responsibilities
Provides administrative support for OAH related to all administrative court operations, including efficiently and accurately entering and updating data using computer software; assembling and scanning documents for case files; examining case files to determine sufficiency of documents; providing answers to written, telephonic, electronic, and personal inquiries regarding case status and filing procedures; preparing procedural documents using computer software; notifying appropriate parties concerning the scheduling of court hearings, postponements, cancellations, and rescheduling of court activities; and collecting and maintaining accurate records of payments
Prepares, maintains, delivers, and retrieves case files and documents in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the Chief Administrative Law Judge, Executive Director, and Clerk of Court
Interacts and communicates with the public orally and in writing when providing customer service related to the adjudication of cases by OAH
Answers a wide range of questions from the public regarding calendaring and filing procedures, case status, fees, and fines and refers legal questions/advice to appropriate OAH staff
Collects, scans, and distributes documents, including correspondence, faxes, and pleadings filed in cases adjudicated by OAH
Makes copies of requested records and assembles documents for use by OAH staff
Updates and maintains OAH's calendaring system
Qualification
Required
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 06 level
