Engineering Technical Assistant

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is a comprehensive public research university that is increasing access to excellent higher education. The Engineering Technical Assistant will support TMAC Field Engineers by conducting research, collecting data, creating technical documents and drawings, and assisting with project implementation and compliance.

Responsibilities

Performs data collection, and reporting in support of research professional/faculty projects
Calculates data in support of project and test hypotheses associated with project; manipulates data to produces charts and graphs to display trends in data; organizes data and interprets data results for reporting; identifies and develops additional data sources other than those provided
Collects data based on established procedures/mediums, performs data entry functions, and computerizes spreadsheets and databases
Maintains records, labs, and equipment related to assigned projects
Operates, adjusts, calibrates, and assembles equipment
Reads, records, and tabulates instrument data
Collects specimens and/or samples
May order laboratory equipment and supplies; inventories and stocks laboratory areas as required
Maintains basic understanding of survey procedures and stays abreast of applicable technologies
Leads work of undergraduate/graduate assistants or lower level technicians in support of project
May be responsible for maintenance of research/academic laboratory spaces
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems
Complies with all State and University policies
Other duties may be assigned

Required

Two years college coursework in a field relevant to the research
Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems
