Responsibilities
Act as a team lead for Associate Insurance Compliance Officers (AICO) on all insurance regulatory activity and special projects including those to identify research and abolish trends in non-compliant activity
Identify violations, and mediate consumer complaints, including those involving a lack of statutory clarity or involving multiple issues requiring mediation by all parties or formal legal action
Assist consumers primarily via telephone communications as well as via written communications by independently investigating, mediating, resolving, and/or responding to the most complex, sensitive and high-profile consumer complaints and inquiries related to insurance coverages, rating and underwriting and claims handling practices involving various lines of insurance
Train staff, participate in Department task groups and represent the Department in public or industry meetings
Occasional travel may be required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.)
Travel may include overnight stay and overtime may be required

Required

leadership skills
ability to independently investigate, mediate, resolve, and/or respond to complex, sensitive and high-profile consumer complaints and inquiries related to insurance coverages, rating and underwriting and claims handling practices
ability to train staff
participation in Department task groups
representation of the Department in public or industry meetings
ability to travel within and/or outside the state of California
completion of a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700)
submission of required documents to verify minimum qualifications (i.e., degree, transcript, license, certificate)
current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 or the Electronic State Employment Application
