Chief Human Resources Officer

Responsibilities

Provides strategic consultation and guidance to senior leaders related to the implementation and management of the people strategy, business initiatives, and organizational changes
Develops and implements best in class human capital leadership and effective practices for recruiting, training, development and performance management practices with a focus on learning and development
Serves as a leader across the organization, driving innovation and change, setting goals, communicating key messages and embodying core values
Creates a collaborative, inclusive culture that reflects organizational values, attracts top talent, and advances engagement, effectiveness, and innovation
Develops relationships with all levels of the organization and becoming someone who is sought for advice and counsel on HR, cultural, and organizational issues
Proactively manages resource allocation and maintaining a competitive approach to recruiting and retaining high-potential talent
Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive approach to employee engagement and culture by refining compensation and benefits, career paths and development, succession planning, and learning opportunities
Executive oversight of comprehensive Human Resources functions
Coaches and mentors the executive team and colleagues to create leadership bench strength capable of addressing challenges of a highly dynamic organization

Required

Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics
Understanding of Alaska Native people and cultures and ability to interact with Alaska Native people and Alaska Native Tribes and Tribal organizations with cultural awareness, sensitivity, and respect
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal and local regulations and requirements
Solid knowledge of all facets of HR with specialized expertise in at least 2 areas
Broad and deep experience as an HR Business Partner supporting executives or senior leadership
Skill in effectively advising and communicating with executive leadership, managing change and inspiring business partners to embrace change
Skill in developing business presentations, written communication, and engaging in personal interactions in a highly professional manner
Skill in effectively managing and leading staff, and in delegating tasks and authority
Skill in strategic and operational planning and implementation
Skill in communicating effectively with diverse groups and individuals - clearly conveying information and ideas and listens and responds with empathy
Skill in advanced decision-making and analysis – ability to draw information and broad knowledge to make timely and logical decisions that provide practical and innovative solutions
Strong business acumen and problem solving ability
High standards of ethics and personal integrity
Master's degree in human resources, business management, or related field
Non-supervisory - Ten (10) years of senior professional human resources work. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience
Supervisory - Five (5) year involving employee supervision
Professional Human Resources (PHR), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

Preferred

Demonstrated proficiency implementing and managing system change
Experience working in a tribal health organization, large health care provider organization, or other tribal non-profit / for-profit organization
Experience working in rural Alaska
