Network Engineer
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe is seeking a Network Engineer to support critical applications and systems through configuration, design, installation, and maintenance of server hardware and software. The role involves assisting the Senior Network Engineer with network infrastructure, security systems, and ensuring data integrity through backups and disaster recovery planning.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the configuration, design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance of server hardware and software required to support critical applications, and systems
Responsible for daily backups of systems and the development and testing of disaster recovery plans
Assists the Senior Network Engineer to install, configure, update, troubleshoot, and repair highly complex IT network infrastructures and associated components, storage area networks, VOIP telephony systems, surveillance systems, and other sophisticated data management and electronic systems
Assists with the establishment and ongoing maintenance of perimeter and internal security systems, and is tasked with safeguarding critical MIT data assets
Serves as a tier-two escalation point in the support of the IT Support Services team
Completes these and other duties as assigned for both the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe (MIT) government locations, Muckleshoot Tribal School (MTS) and the Muckleshoot Health and Wellness Center (HWC)
Administers day-to-day activities and processes associated with virtual machine hosts and host software
Tunes systems for optimum utilization of virtual server resources
Administers data backup systems and assures data integrity through scheduled backups, regular restoration tests, and routine backup system maintenance
Ensures onsite and offsite data storage media is protected, secure, and in good working order at all times
Provides data restoration services to end users as necessary
Participates in disaster prevention and recovery planning, and documents the plans as appropriate for areas of responsibility
Checks at least annually to ensure plans are up to date and appropriate
Administers all servers making sure they are operating within prescribed parameters
Uses advanced performance monitoring and management tools to maintain server performance at optimum levels
Monitors and reviews system logs on a daily basis and records all findings as appropriate
Troubleshoots problems relating to server hardware and software, and implements solutions based on established procedures
Uses the service management database to record all issues and resolutions
Acts as a lead with Microsoft based network design, recommending solutions and working with other members of the Engineering Services team to implement changes
Responsible for documentation of the Microsoft network design schematics and configurations
Administers key business resources including email systems, telephone systems, voicemail systems, print servers, and automated software update systems
Thoroughly documents these systems in the appropriate system service logs
Assists the Senior Network Engineer to install, configure, maintain, update, troubleshoot, and repair network hardware and software
Assumes the duties, roles, and responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer in their absence
Interacts with vendors on behalf of the IT department and end users ensuring they provide services per contracted agreements
Escalates complex issues to senior Engineering Services staff and on to appropriate vendors as is warranted
Prepares specifications conforming to bid processes, obtain estimates and assists IT management in vendor selection
Provides specialized technical support to users; meets with users and/or department representatives to analyze requirements, recommend solutions, and coordinate implementation

Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in computer science or a closely related field required, or equivalent professional experience
Eight (8) years of overall IT experience demonstrating a continued path of professional growth, with two (2) years of hands-on experience in a network administrator or network engineering role
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
A minimum of two (2) years of directly related network experience is required regardless of education level
Interpersonal relationship and team building, developing documentation for technical and non-technical audiences, preparing training materials for users, and using productivity tools to convey ideas
Servers, SAN's, Cisco switching and routing hardware and operating systems, WAN and LAN configuration and management, networking protocols, VMware, Windows Server, advanced hardware and software troubleshooting techniques, user management, time management techniques, written and oral command of the English language
A valid Washington State driver's license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe
