ICB Strategy Development Intern

UNCF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting HBCUs and their students. The Strategy Development Intern will assist in planning and coordinating activities for UNITE 2026, conduct research on higher education trends, and support the Strategy Development team with special projects and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Support planning and coordination activities related to UNITE 2026, including timeline tracking and action item management
Assist with organizing shared planning materials, resources, and documentation
Help track deliverables and milestones to support effective summit preparation
Conduct background research on higher education trends, HBCUs, and summit‑related topics
Support research related to effectiveness, competitiveness, and viability in higher education
Assist with drafting internal planning materials, session briefs, speaker background notes, and summary documents
Synthesize research findings into clear, concise written materials to support decision‑making
Assist the Strategy Development team with special projects connected to UNITE and other strategic initiatives
Provide analytical and organizational support for strategy discussions and planning sessions
Contribute to the development of tools, frameworks, or briefing documents as needed
Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and project check‑ins
Support cross‑functional collaboration with Operations, Programs, Communications, and other teams as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned in support of evolving priorities

Required

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working collaboratively across teams
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a mission-driven setting
Demonstrated interest in higher education, nonprofit strategy, or equity-focused work impacting HBCUs
Availability to work onsite during our core hours Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Availability for occasional evenings and weekends event(s)
A current resume

Recommendation Letter

Preferred

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program (junior, senior, or graduate student preferred)
Academic background or experience in education, political science, sociology, public policy, or a related field preferred
