Senior GIS Architect (Washington D.C.)

Responsibilities
Design, integrate, and implement enterprise GIS architectures, including ArcGIS Enterprise and GeoEvent Server, to support operational, analytical, and real-time geospatial workflows
Architect, deploy, and maintain high-availability and resilient GIS environments, including redundancy, load balancing, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations
Apply broad IT expertise across networking, security, server and desktop environments, enterprise applications, and web technologies to ensure stable and secure system operations
Design, optimize, and operate cloud-based GIS solutions in Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, identity, and cloud-native storage services
Implement and maintain automated deployments across multiple environments (development, test, staging, production) using Azure DevOps
Develop and support automation solutions using PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC), Python, and other scripting tools
Plan and execute system upgrades and version migrations for complex GIS and IT environments, including risk mitigation and rollback strategies
Manage Esri enterprise licensing, including entitlement planning, compliance, optimization, and coordination with vendors and customer stakeholders
Collaborate with customer cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure GIS solutions comply with applicable federal security requirements
Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, deployment standards, and migration roadmaps
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizen
DoD Secret Clearance
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in enterprise GIS architecture, systems engineering, or related IT disciplines
Demonstrated experience designing, integrating, and implementing Esri ArcGIS Enterprise solutions, including distributed and high-availability architectures
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including optimization and configuration of cloud solutions for enterprise workloads
Experience with Azure DevOps (or similar) for CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and environment management
Proficiency with PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, Python, or comparable automation and scripting tools
Broad experience across IT disciplines, including networking, security, server and desktop installation, enterprise applications, and web technologies
Proven experience planning and executing version upgrades and migrations for large, complex systems
Preferred
GISP, CompTIA Security+, Esri Enterprise, AWS or Azure certifications
