The State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida is dedicated to pursuing justice and enforcing the law. The Legal Assistant I will provide administrative and legal support to Assistant State Attorneys, handling tasks such as preparing legal documents and managing case files in a fast-paced environment.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for Assistant State Attorneys
Prepare legal documents including misdemeanor and felony files, subpoenas and court calendars
Dependable and routine in-office attendance during regularly scheduled business hours
Review and promptly respond to all electronic messaging
Perform quality work within deadlines
Update case management system and notes
Receive, scan and distribute incoming mail
Receive and process Law Enforcement electronic media
Assist in the processing and maintenance of all electronic media including e-filings and evidence and media
Perform all duties as required
Incumbents in this position may be required to lift files (up to 25 lbs.)

Required

A high school diploma or equivalency
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to multitask effectively

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to focus and pay attention to detail
Ability to read and comprehend
Ability to operate the telephone system and respond to calls promptly and professionally
Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery
Ability to follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Efficient keyboard skills
Effective and efficient communication skills and ability to interact professionally with other employees, members of the public and stakeholders

One or more years of experience working in a law firm, courthouse, or legal department in a legal support role
