Sheriff's Office Fiscal Analyst

Sonoma County Public Infrastructure is seeking an experienced fiscal analyst to join the Sheriff's Office team. The role involves developing, monitoring, and managing budgets for various operational units, administering grants and contracts, and providing project management support.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and manage the budgets for multiple assigned operational units and approve ongoing expenditures
Coordinate work projects with operational supervisors, managers, and coworkers
Provide administrative project management, which can include preparing fiscal estimates, managing project timelines and deliverables, and coordinating related tasks
Administer grants and contracts for services and goods
Develop requests for proposals (RFPs)
Support units by addressing operational problems, identifying solutions, and implementing solutions

Required

Work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, one year of full-time professional level staff experience related to general administration, accounting, budgetary analysis, or human resources work including research, analysis, and preparation of written reports and recommendations would provide such an opportunity
Any combination of course work and training which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, academic course work in public administration, business administration, management, accounting, political science, economics, statistics, English composition, psychology or closely related courses would provide such an opportunity
Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position

Preferred

Experience managing budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
Exceptional time management skills to address multiple priorities and competing projects
Experience developing strong, collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff
The ability to shift gears quickly while addressing changing priorities

Salary Advancement - A salary increase after 1,040 hours (6 months when working full-time) for good work performance; eligibility for a salary increase for good performance every year thereafter, until reaching the top of the salary range
