Safety Advocate
City Care is dedicated to advocating for the overlooked in the community, providing essential services such as food and support for those in need. The Safety Advocate is responsible for maintaining a safe environment at City Care facilities, ensuring the safety of staff, clients, and visitors through monitoring, emergency response, and policy enforcement.

Responsibilities
Monitor all entrances, exits, and surrounding areas of City Care facilities to deter unauthorized access and ensure safety
Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both inside and outside
Ensure doors, windows, and gates are locked or secured after hours
Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches, following established protocols
Assist staff and clients during evacuations or other emergencies
Develop personalized engagement strategies for high-risk guests
Document and report incidents to the Chief Operations Officer and appropriate authorities when required
Enforce organizational policies, including access control and visitor management
Ensure compliance with fire safety and emergency procedures
Conduct bag checks, screenings, or other measures as needed to maintain a secure environment
Act as a liaison between staff, clients, and external emergency services during security-related incidents
Provide guidance to staff on security procedures and ensure they are well-informed about safety protocols
Work closely with other departments to address specific security needs or concerns
Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, incidents, and other security-related documentation
Provide regular security updates to the Sr. Director of Facilities
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in security or law enforcement preferred
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is a plus
Strong observational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations
Proficiency in using surveillance equipment and basic computer systems
Must pass a background check
Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physically able to stand, walk, and respond to emergencies for extended periods
Complete CLEET certification upon employment
Complete Mental Health First Aid upon employment
Commitment to the mission of City Care and its values of equity, dignity, and compassion
Proactive and vigilant in identifying and addressing potential safety concerns
