Accounting Clerk III - Team Lead

Responsibilities
Maintains journals or subsidiary ledgers of an accounting system and balances and reconciles accounts. Typical duties include one or both of the following
Reviewing invoices and statements, verifying information, ensuring sufficient funds have been obligated, and if questionable, resolving with the submitting unit determining accounts involved
The review will include coding transactions, and processing material through data processing for application in the accounting system; analysis and reconciliation of computer printouts with operating unit reports (contacting units, researching causes of discrepancies, and taking action to ensure that accounts balance). Supervisor provides suggestions for handling unusual or non-recurring transactions
Provide overarching budget and financial support
Compute, track, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete
Enter data for accounting processes
Run various reports in financial systems
Perform routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for maintaining accounting records
Check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings related to business transactions recorded by others
Use Microsoft Office tools to support budget and financial analyses, and develop reports or briefs for senior leaders, Program Managers, Branch Heads, DoD Officials, and/or Congress
Bid and proposal support if requested
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position
HS Diploma required
At least five (5) years of experience providing financial management support to DoD/DoN
An understanding of Navy Working Capital Funds (NWCF) and General Funds
Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Must possess strong time management skills
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in accounting or a related field is desired
