Engineering Equipment Operator (Road Construction Worker)-Direct Hire Authority
USAJOBS is seeking an Engineering Equipment Operator for the Department of the Air Force. The primary purpose of this position is to operate heavy equipment such as graders, tractors, and front-end loaders for road construction and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
Operates one or more types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on constructions sites
Maintains, repairs, and constructs rigid pavements or similar cement and concrete surfaces
Maintains, repairs, and constructs flexible roads, pavements, parking areas, airdromes, bike paths, or similar surfaces of asphalt
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment
Uses and maintains tools and equipment

This position requires operators to operate tractor and trailer combinations to transport heavy equipment across state and county roads
A current/valid CLASS ‘A' CDL license is required by law to operate combination vehicles over 26,000 lbs with a towed unit that weighs over 10,000 lbs 'gross vehicle weight' for the position
The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and or holidays
May be required to train and or guide lower graded employees
Hand, foot, and eye coordination, good depth perception and a high degree of concentration are required in handling and manipulating these controls to perform the work of this position
This position requires a physical medical examination

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700- Transportation Mobile Equipment Operation family
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely
