ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL
The U.S. Naval Academy is seeking an Assistant Inspector General for the Office of Inspector General (IG). The role involves planning and conducting inspections, analyzing complaints, conducting investigations, and managing internal controls to support mission objectives.

Responsibilities
You will plan, schedule and conduct assigned inspections, as determined by the IG, in a timely manner to assess compliance with governing directives and internal controls
You will receive and analyze incoming complaints and requests for assistance from military, military family members, DOD civilian, retirees, contractor personnel, and other personnel
You will independently conduct investigations of hotline complaints including whistleblower complaints as assigned by the IG
You will assess internal controls and manage risk in order to support achievement of mission goals and objectives
You will serve as the IG office coordinator for non-IG functions, including procurement, records management, and as the information management for automation and request for telephones, computers, software, and IT equipment
You will assist in performing the audit liaison function for audits, inspections, surveys, reviews, and studies by audit agencies including the Government Accountability Office, DoD Office of the Inspector General, and the Naval Audit Service
Qualification
Required
Possess a completed Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
Have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Maintaining/completing required NAVINSGEN training, proficiency, currency, and experience necessary to achieve and maintain NAVINSGEN inspector certification as outlined in NAVINSGEN M-5000.1 (Certification Manual)
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
