Purchasing Manager
Alert Tech SMT is a full stack electronics contract manufacturer based in the United States. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the economic acquisition of materials to support product lines and MRO supplies, overseeing procurement processes, and fostering relationships with suppliers.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement purchasing strategies for electronic components, raw materials, and services
Oversee the procurement of materials to support product lines and MRO supplies
Meet with major vendors to promote the company's interests and identify changing market conditions
Foster and maintain reliable relationships with suppliers and develop metrics to improve vendor performance
Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitive cost control
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand component specifications and requirements
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier contracts, and inventory data in ERP/MRP systems
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for purchases and resolve major material problems as they arise
Lead and develop a team of buyers or purchasing agents
Additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Strong computer skills with advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills
In-depth knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP)
Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
Financial understanding and risk analysis ability
Effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to prioritize duties, make immediate decisions, multi-task and remain in an assertive environment is essential to the success of this position
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
7+ years of experience in commodity purchasing/planning; 3+ years in a leadership role
