Responsibilities
Lead backend engineering projects end-to-end, from system design through deployment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
Build and maintain production-grade backend systems that support real-time user interviews at scale
Design, optimize, and manage APIs and services using Python and Django
Work extensively with SQL databases (Postgres preferred) to ensure efficient data modeling and querying
Deploy, monitor, and manage backend services on AWS
Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and AI teams to integrate backend systems with AI/ML and LLM-powered features
Operate in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership and accountability
Qualification
Required
3–10 years of software engineering experience
3–10 years of experience building production-grade backend systems
Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with Django
Prior experience at a startup (Series D or earlier)
Product-focused engineering mindset with strong system design skills
Extensive experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
Experience deploying and managing services on AWS
Preferred
Familiarity with WebRTC, real-time data streaming, or AI/ML infrastructure is a strong plus
