Responsibilities
Curriculum development
On the Road program implementation
Coordination and communication with teachers and school administrators
Assistance with progress reports
Participation in the Gulf of America Alliance Education Priority Issue Team
Work with the NOAA Ocean Guardian School program
Provision of outreach and education events at the NERR
Participation in community education events
Management of the annual open house event (Star Party)
Co-chairing the Celebrate the Gulf Marine Education Festival
Assisting in the facilitation of professional development workshops
Qualification
Required
Strong science background
Experience in K-12 and community informal education
Curriculum development experience
Strong communication and writing skills
Strong time-management skills
Organized and detail-oriented
Good judgement in decision-making
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Willing and able to develop new skills and expertise
Ability to work outside under extreme weather conditions
Availability for weekend, evening, and holiday work
Preferred
Experience working in Gulf Coast marshes
Experience working with teachers, schools, and other informal educators
Experience with small-boat handling
Familiarity with the National Estuarine Research Reserve System
Familiarity with the NOAA Ocean Guardian School program
