TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

Responsibilities

You will evaluate instructional approach, develop and materials and evaluations
You will conduct training research for budget purpose and for training quality assurance
You will obtain or develop necessary training aids and determine time schedules and sequences of instructions
You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives
You will utilize knowledge for training purposes in trades such as sheet metal, shipfitter, metal forger, flange turner, and/or welding

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
You will be required to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in welding trade processes, practices, materials, equipment, and techniques
Experience effectively instructing others in welding subjects
Experience in welding subject matter to provide practical application of the trade integrated with safety, radiological, and other requirements
Experience in welding trade commensurate
Experience disseminating training both orally and written in the area of welding process and concepts
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
Successful completion of a LL.M., if related
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education
