Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer - CCB Chair
Raytheon is dedicated to solving mission-level customer challenges, and they are seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the Patriot Missile Change Control Board. This role involves mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems, ensuring supplier success in design and production reviews, and collaborating with engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges.

Responsibilities
Support design specification development through production qualification and release including ensuring design is manufacturable
Ensure the suppliers are successful in completing major design and production reviews on schedule
Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions
Provide responses to supplier questions related to general design expectations and interpretation of the relevant specifications
Provide guidance on Raytheon expectations for design rigor, level of TDP & MDP documentation required, typical analysis approach, and other similar topics
Connect suppliers with Raytheon subject matter experts as required
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges
Work with limited supervision and meet technical, schedule, and monetary commitments
Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment
Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
Experience with ERB/CCB process; CCB chair certification or ability to be certified
Minimum 10 Years Of Professional Engineering Experience
5 years of direct experience in engineering design, development and/or production support
Experience with solid modeling with a minimum of 5 years of creating and documenting mechanical designs in Pro/Engineer/CREO or similar modeling tools
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline degree with 2+ years of experience working within small electromechanical or gyroscope similar assembly/products
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME drawing and documentation standards and procedures
Experience with materials, load bearing structures, shock/vibration/load analysis
Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
Missile portfolio including reviewing trade studies, identification of suitable alternate and interchangeable materials, or design changes as needed
Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPTs and other functions to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance and US passport is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred
Working knowledge or experience with Air and Missile Defense, and/or Military Products
Strong presentation and technical writing skills combined with knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
Ability to work in a team environment and lead small teams to success with technical execution, schedule, and budget
Experience in being an advocate for process improvement
Previous experience with design reviews including preparation of chart decks, generating design artifacts for presenting to suppliers and customers
Ability to take ownership of a product and provide supplier and customer support
Provides effective collaboration across engineering functions to perform root cause analysis
Familiarity with Earn Value Management (EVMS)
Ability to travel to support supplier engagements
ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience
Strong CAD Design Experience (CREO, AutoCAD Preferred)
Experience with PDM/Windchill or similar product data management tool
Experience with manufacturing systems and processes
Reliability or failure analysis experience
Experience with external supplier collaboration (incl. Export/Import considerations)
Solid understanding of configuration management practices
Experience developing program proposal
Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements
Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems
