FARO Arm Operator & Programmer

MSM Industries is seeking a skilled FARO Arm Operator / Programmer to support precision inspection and metrology operations within their aerospace manufacturing environment, focusing on programming and operating Hexagon Absolute Arm systems for high-accuracy inspections.

Responsibilities

Operate and program Hexagon Absolute Arm systems, including AS1 laser scanner and tactile probing
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PC-DMIS scanning and probing inspection routines
Generate FAIRs, inspection reports, and nonconformance documentation as required
Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve inspection issues
Support internal and external audits related to ISO9001 quality system requirements
Import and manage CAD models, align parts using appropriate datum structures, and execute inspections

Required

Strong working knowledge of PC-DMIS for both scanning and probing applications
Proven experience operating Hexagon Absolute Arm systems, specifically with the AS1 scanner
Solid understanding of point cloud processing, feature extraction, and alignment techniques
Familiarity with ISO9001, First Article Inspection (FAI), and AS9102 requirements
Hands-on inspection experience with aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and/or composite parts
3–5+ years of experience in aerospace machining, precision manufacturing, or metrology
Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs and perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, and manual assembly
Visual acuity required for reading technical drawings and digital media
Valid US driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles
To conform to US Government export regulations, the applicant must be a (i) US Citizen, (ii) lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (aka green card holder), (iii) protected individual as defined by U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or (iv) eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume aerospace manufacturing
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy
Background working in a regulated aerospace or defense environment
