Responsibilities

You will provide expert engineering oversight by developing, directing, and ensuring compliance for all reactor servicing procedures and technical documents
You will serve as the key technical liaison between internal teams and external authorities to investigate and resolve complex reactor servicing issues
You will mentor and develop technical subordinates and associates in the application of reactor servicing requirements and leadership principles
You will conduct detailed engineering studies and develop action plans to resolve intricate technical problems and propose system improvements

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding
You will be required to maintain a telephone at your place of residence
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience applying advanced engineering principles to the design, operation, maintenance, and disposition of nuclear reactor servicing equipment, reactor heads, and vessel components
Experience developing, reviewing, or approving complex technical documents, such as Reactor Servicing Procedures or Refueling Technical Work Documents (RTWDs), to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards
Experience leading and coordinating engineering projects by planning and executing procedure development, resolving complex technical issues, and integrating the work of various support organizations to meet schedules
Experience interpreting and evaluating engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manuals to troubleshoot issues and provide expert recommendations for reactor servicing operations
Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and team members on engineering practices, technical requirements, and procedural compliance
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering
