TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
The Defense Information Systems Agency is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to support the mission of the US Cyber Command. The role involves project management, technical authority for network management, and formulating strategies for resource allocation and project goals.

Responsibilities
Performs project management duties which includes responsibility for ensuring project goals are accomplished. This duty may include providing advice and direction to other civilians, military, and contractor personnel
Serves as a technical authority for respective network management, service provisioning, basic transmission, satellite transmission communications, applications, and transport systems
Serves as a technical authority for respective optical mesh networking, and Internet protocol routing security criteria, methodologies, techniques, processes, and mechanisms
Meets with customers and technical personnel to define user requirements and determine the most efficient means for accomplishing objectives and resolving technical issues
Plans potential resource and financial implications of projects and DISN sustainment actions
Formulate strategies for securing resources and financing necessary to support sustainment, upgrade, and migration initiative

This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination
In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months
Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement
This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) up to 25 percent of the time
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. Education can also include communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis
Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Performing project management duties, serving as a technical authority for network management including basic and satellite transmission communications, applications, transport systems, and optical mesh networking, resolving technical issues, and developing policies
Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level
