Responsibilities
Operate autonomously, evaluating the compliance of environmental laboratories with state and national accreditation standards, regulations, and guidelines
Assess various matrices, including drinking water, non-potable water, and solid chemical materials
Conduct internal audits of the Laboratory Accreditation Program
Read, comprehend, and apply current regulations and guidelines
Suggest modifications to enhance the environmental laboratory accreditation program
Serve as a witness in legal or administrative hearings
Qualification
Required
One year as a Microbiologist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
One year of professional laboratory work experience in microbiology, and a bachelor's degree that includes 20 credits in microbiology, cellular biology, molecular biology or bacteriology and 12 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or
A graduate degree in microbiology
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
You must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport for this position. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
