SBA Closer

Responsibilities
Prepare, process, document, close, fund and service SBA Loans in accordance with Lender’s credit policy and the SBA Standard Operating Procedure
Review and verify all applicable loan documentation, including but not limited to credit approvals, title work, entity documentation, purchase agreements and leases
Assist lenders with 912 clearances, citizenship, military clearance, ownership, and other eligibility issues for both GP (SBA’s General Processing) and PLP (SBA’s Preferred Lender Program) processing
Enter loans through Etran, the SBA web-based portal, to prompt SBA approval numbers to ensure compliance and efficiency for SBA loan submissions
Review and analyze credit approval conditions while working closely with outside counsel in preparing the Closing Checklist and guide customer through the closing process
Gather and review construction AIA contract, final budget, plans, specifications, builder’s risk insurance, permits, etc. for construction and leasehold improvement projects
Process disbursements according to the loan approval and adherence to the SBA’s Standard Operating Procedure, including proper documentation collection, equity verification, and draw process as well as communicate any deficiencies to the Closing Manager
Use pre- and post-closing checklists to verify loan to approval and SBA Authorization. Work with post-close audit review to resolve any packaging/closing/disbursement issues
Demonstrate and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the SBA Standard Operating Procedure and 7a loan programs, as well as knowledge of various other SBA programs
Maintain a work area which ensures the safety and confidentiality of all customer records and transactions
Understand and comply with Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Policies and Procedures

Qualification
Required
Expert-level knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedure 50 10, 7a lending programs and related federal regulations
Ability to interpret legal documents, including UCC filings, title commitments, surveys and entity documentation
Proficiency in loan software, such as LaserPro
High-level knowledge of SBA loan programs, such as E-Tran
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills and ability to set goals, meet deadlines, prioritize work and handle interruptions while maintaining focus on results and quality
Ability to identify and define problems, collect and evaluate data, draw valid conclusions and make sound independent judgements and decisions
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret written information, recall written and oral instructions provided by others, edit documents for accuracy, grammar and spelling, write clearly and informatively and communicate information with clarity, tact and diplomacy
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including ability to ascertain and respond to customer needs and meet the bank's objectives
Broad knowledge and understanding of federal and state bank law and regulations, basic lending principals, lending products and sound banking practices
Knowledge of bank policies, with advanced knowledge of SBA loan policies and procedures, as well as some knowledge of underwriting, processing and servicing of SBA loans
Demonstrated excellence in working with peer teams across organizations
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and bank / loan software programs and platforms
An undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Preferred
A minimum of 2 years related experience in SBA closing (preferred) or over 3 years of complex commercial credit closing/processing experience
