Finance Reimbursement Assistant Director

Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing and filing information with various third-party payers, including but not limited to:
Cost reports
Surveys and questionnaires
Special CMS requests
Manages audits conducted by third-party payers, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and State Medicaid Programs
Develops and maintains expertise in reimbursement processes and financial reporting systems
Prepares reimbursement-related reports and analyses to support the reimbursement team
Performs monthly analysis of all contractual and settlement accounts
Oversees general ledger accounts related to third-party payers on both the balance sheet and the statements of revenues and expenses (including HCAP, UPL, HAP)
Provides hospital leadership with analyses on the financial impact of proposed and finalized regulations
Serves as a subject matter resource on reimbursement topics
Actively shares professional and technical expertise to support the development of the reimbursement team
Monitors the status of appeals and assists with the preparation and filing of appeals to Medicare and Medicaid programs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 10 years of progressive hospital reimbursement experience, specifically in Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation
Financial analysis within a healthcare setting
Leadership experience in healthcare finance, preferably within large health systems or academic medical centers
Hands-on experience preparing cost reports
Deep knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and related regulations
Advanced financial analytical skills, especially in forecasting, variance analysis, and reconciliation of third-party liabilities
Project management expertise in leading complex reimbursement projects
Highly detail-oriented, especially with regulatory reporting and audit documentation
Strong technical skills in financial reporting systems and data analysis
Collaborative leadership style; ability to coach, train, and build a cohesive, effective team
Effective communicator, comfortable working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
Deadline-driven with a strong sense of accountability
Strategic mindset paired with a hands-on approach to operational execution
Problem-solving skills in navigating audits, appeals, and regulatory challenges
