Program Coordinator, Simmons Cancer Center, Community Outreach

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator for the Community Outreach Division of the Simmons Cancer Center. The role focuses on facilitating communication between the cancer center and the Dallas Fort Worth community, while providing operational support for advisory boards and community engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide infrastructure and logistical support for quarterly Community Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and three ongoing CAB task forces (Public Awareness, Advocacy, Access to Clinical Trials)
Develop meeting agendas, prepare materials, coordinate scheduling, manage invitations, and ensure accurate documentation of discussions and decisions
Track and synthesize community feedback; follow-up on action items for cancer center continuous quality improvement
Track and summarize cancer-related policy developments at local, state, and national levels
Prepare concise reports and briefing documents to inform leadership and community partners
Collaborate with the Office of Education and Training and other internal UTSW departments to plan and execute twice-yearly advocacy-focused workshops and twice-yearly best practices in community engagement sessions for researchers and trainees
Handle logistics such as venue coordination, participant communication, and resource preparation
Actively participate in the statewide cancer coalition or similar collective impact efforts to align efforts and share best practices
Conduct site visits to local community organizations to strengthen relationships and promote cohesion between SCCC and community stakeholders
Ensure strategic representation of DFW communities on the Advisory Board. Recruit new members as needed to ensure representation of DFW communities
Develop additional boards or committees as needed to support bidirectional communication

Required

Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Education/Social Science, or related field
5 years Experience in appropriate field or May consider additional years of experience in lieu of education

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree In public health, social sciences, communications, public policy, or related field (Master's preferred)
2+ years of experience in program coordination, community engagement, coalition building, or health advocacy
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage stakeholders from a variety of communities
Familiarity with cancer-related policy and health equity principles is a plus
Experience with coalition building and stakeholder engagement
Knowledge of cancer prevention, screening, and clinical trial access
Demonstrated ability to monitor, interpret, and communicate policy developments relevant to cancer risk factors, cancer care, and research
Bilingual
Proficient in Canva or design tools
