Postdoctoral Scholar - Materials Science and Engineering/Maria Group
Penn State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Materials Science and Engineering Department within Dr. Jon-Paul Maria's research group. The role involves synthesizing thin film nitride heterostructures, performing physical characterization, leading nanofabrication efforts, and coordinating a research team to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities
Synthesize thin film nitride heterostructures using sputter deposition instrumentation
Perform physical characterization on thin films and heterostructures to quantify physical structure, crystal structure, chemical composition, morphology, thickness, and stress states
Lead nanofabrication efforts to generate Josephson structures
Perform low temperature and temperature dependent transport properties of nitride heterostructures and their component layers
Document, interpret, and organize all data from depositions, characterizations, and property measurements
Organize all data and learning into scientific manuscripts, quarterly reports, and presentations
Coordinate the collective effort of a six-research group team at Penn State
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or other comparable majors
Experience in thin film growth
Experience in thin film characterization
Experience in electrical property measurements
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
Excellent abilities to work in and organize a collaborative and interdisciplinary team
